First look at the box!
As a first look, I am impressed with my first box. I love it. I did purchase this box myself and all opinions are my own.
The theme of this month was “Leading Ladies”.
Let’s dig in…
Divergent-inspired tote bag by Whoviandrea
Thoughts: So cute! This is included as a tribute to Tris, obviously. I am just so excited that it is Dauntless. I would totally be Dauntless if our world had a faction system!! I am too excited about this. I always need a tote bag, and what other than a bookish one would I want to carry my stuff around in?!
Divergent-inspired bookmark by Whoviandrea
Thoughts: I can always use new bookmarks, and especially Divergent-inspired ones!! Love this! It will be put to good use. Maybe when I eventually re-read the Divergent series cause it was that good!
Value: $5.00 **There is a coupon on the back of this bookmark! You can use the code OWLCRATE15 to get a $5.00 gift card to use on whoviandrea.com! Go get you something bookish!!
Arrow Necklace by Crystal Compass
Thoughts: As a tribute to Katniss, this is just adorable. I do wish that the chain was a bit longer, but this is meant to be a necklace that you layer with others, so I will have to check into that! Either that, or I may try to make mine into a bracelet. Either way, perfect to wear to see Mockingjay Part 2 soon!! Ahh.
**Also have a coupon for 50% off at crystalcompass.etsy.com with the code OWLCRATE! Enjoy! (:
Game of Thrones Pocket Pop key chain by Funko
Thoughts: So, I have never watched GoT, so for me, this is cute, but I have no idea who she is. I do love these little Pop! figures, and I have a couple of them, so I’m okay with it! Just gives me more motivation to watch the show! hahaha
Hermione Photo Print “The Brightest Witch of Her Age” by Megan Lara
Thoughts: This is so neat. I love it! I can’t wait to frame it and put it on my shelf somewhere close to my HP series!!
Thoughts: I am not a fan of cats, but this is cute! I don’t know that I’ll ever actually place it anywhere, but it was a cute ad for meowbox!
Value: Promo code: OWLCRATE. You can use this code on meowbox.com and get 10% off your first order! Enjoy (:
Frenzy ad card
Thoughts: This is a card from Frenzy, which is HarperCollins Canada for Young Adults. Thanks HCCA for getting us our book so soon after it hit shelves. Awesome.
And now for the book…
Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy
Summary: Self-proclaimed fat girl Willowdean Dickson (Dubbed “Dumplin'” by her former beauty queen mom) has always been at home in her own skin. Her thoughts on having the ultimate bikini body? Put a bikini on your body. With her all-American-beauty best friend, Ellen, by her side, things have always worked… until Will takes a job at Harpy’s, the local fast-food joint. There she meets Private School Bo, a hot former jock. Will isn’t surprised to find herself attracted to Bo. But she is surprised when he seems to like her back. Instead of finding new heights of self-assurance in her relationship with Bo, Will starts to doubt herself. So she sets out to take back her confidence by doing the most horrifying thing she can imagine: entering the Miss Teen Blue Bonnet beauty pageant – along with several other unlikely candidates – to show the world that she deserves to be up there as much as any twiggy girl does. Along the way, she’ll shock the hell out of Clover City – and maybe herself most of all.
Thoughts: I feel like this is going to be a very fun, feel-good YA Contemporary and I am excited to read it! It sounds super uplifting, and I cannot wait to jump in it soon!
Value: $ 17.99
Reproduced letter from the Author, and Book sticker.
Thoughts: These came along with the book nicely wrapped in a sealed plastic wrapper. The note was nice! And I love the sticker!
The bottom on the box hoots “Enjoy your adventure!”
Super cute touch!
This first box was a great box! Such a cool pile of items. I think my favorite item is the totebag! Aside from the book, of course. I totally did not expect that book in this box, but I am excited about it!
Total Value: $63.98!
Definitely worth the price of this box. I will for sure be continuing my subscription! And the October theme is… SPOOKY!! So excited!
