Lit-Cube Unboxing – "Time Travel" – March 2016

Last day of the month! Wooo!

Lit Cube is a monthly book subscription box. The box is $29.99/month + $5.00 shipping for the US, for a total of $34.99/month. For Canada, the shipping is $10.00, so the box is $39.99.

Each box comes with a hand-picked book and bookish themed products to brings us a fun reading experience each month.

 First look!

This month’s theme is “Time Travel”.

So let’s see where it takes us (;

Lit Cube is changing up the box. Last month was their first month to do it, but now there will be a readable, a snackable, and a wearable. So, that’s cool. They will also be other things as well, but those three will be the way they coordinate the box from this point on, and I liked it a lot last month!

 Readable: Loop by Karen Akins

Summary:
At a school where Quantum Paradox 101 is a required course and history field trips are literal, sixteen-year-old time traveler Bree Bennis excels… at screwing up.
After Bree botches a solo midterm to the 21st century by accidentally taking a boy hostage (a teensy snafu), she stands to lose her scholarship. But when Bree sneaks back to talk the kid into keeping his yap shut, she doesn’t go back far enough. The boy, Finn, now three years older and hot as a solar flare, is convinced he’s in love with Bree, or rather, a future version of her that doesn’t think he’s a complete pain in the arse. To make matters worse, she inadvertently transports him back to the 23rd century with her.
Once home, Bree discovers that a recent rash of accidents at her school are anything but accidental. Someone is attacking time travelers. As Bree and her temporal tagalong uncover seemingly unconnected clues – a broken bracelet, a missing data file, the art heist of the millennium – that lead to the person responsible, she alone has the knowledge to piece the puzzle together. Knowledge only one other person has. Her future self.
But when those closest to her become the next victim, Bree realizes the attacker is willing to do anything to stop her. In the past, present, or future.

Thoughts: Sounds interesting. I am slightly bothered though. There is a black dot on the bottom of the book, like from a marker, meaning that LitCube gets their books super cheap, which is okay, but they aren’t recent novels, and most of the time, I never even really want to read it.. This one does sound okay, but I’ve got so many other books I’ll read first.

Value: $18.99

Wearable: Dr. Who Quote Tee

Thoughts: The quote says “I am and always will be the optimist, the hoper of far-flung hopes and the dreamer of improbable dreams.”

Very cute! As I’ve said multiple times, I am actually not in the Dr. Who fandom, but the more items I get, the more I really want to watch it! I’ve had many people tell me I’d like it, so I will give it a try sooner or later!

Value: $19.99

Snackable: That’s It. Fruit Bar

Thoughts: I got the apple/coconut bar, and it is actually okay. It isn’t fantastic, and I wouldn’t ever buy it again, but for a quick snack, it was pretty good!

Value: $1.99

Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey Candle by Frostbeard Candles

Thoughts: I loveeee these candles, so this is awesome!! Yet again another Dr. Who item hahaha I can’t escape it!!

Value: $4.99

Travel Pocket Journal by Life Canvas

Thoughts: Super cute! It has all the things you’d need to journal while you travel! Which I never do.. But I want to travel! So much! Maybe I can use this one day..

Value: $6.99

Hermione’s Time Turner

Thoughts: AHHHH this is the best thing in the whole box!!! I love it so much! It has the quote “I mark the hours every one, nor have I yet outrun the sun, My use and value, unto you, are gauged by what you have to do.” is written around the edges. I just love it!! Can’t wait to add it to my growing HP collection!

Value: $8.99

 March 2016 Collector Card

Thoughts: As always, I think these are neat. By the way, the photo is not blurry, the card is made to look blurry like that! Haha

Total Value for this Box: $61.94!!!

Wow, what a value!

One good thing about Lit-Cube is that they include multiple items. However, sometimes I just feel very underwhelmed about this box. I am considering cancelling.. I enjoy some of the items in the box I get, but the book is almost always just sort of “ehh”. I have already paid for the April box, and I am going to wait to see what the May theme is before I do though.

Next month’s theme is “Anniversary of the Dragon”! It is their one-year anniversary, so it should be a fun box! If you’re interested, head to www.lit-cube.com to get yours!

I hope you enjoyed my #LitCube unboxing!

Thanks for reading! (:
