May 2018 Reading Wrap Up!

Hi guys!

I’m alive and well. Haha! I’ve been absent for some time from my blog. I took what I thought was going to be a brief hiatus that sort of turned into an extended hiatus. But I’m back now, and I’m going to try to get back on a normal posting schedule again. I will say that I am totally fine. This blog just kind of started to feel like a chore, and not something I enjoyed very much. So I decided to take a break for myself. I am still getting a FLOOD of book review requests, even though I have clearly stated I’m not taking review books right now. It is getting frustrating, and also why I decided to take a break. I just want to take some time to read for myself right now, so I apologize to any authors that have submitted to me if you’re reading this. Anywayyyy.

I have been reading the last couple months even if I haven’t been talking about them. I didn’t read much in March or April, but I did manage to pick back up and read 5 books in May, so I’ll talk about those!

Total page count: 1,843

7614652#1: City of Glass by Cassandra Clare (The Mortal Instruments, #3)

Thoughts: I am still rereading these for the Shadowhunter read-a-thon, and I am super behind with it now, but I’m going to try to catch up and get back on schedule with it. But I’m still loving it! This book is probably my favorite in the series!

Rating: 5/5 stars on Goodreads!

31076583#2: A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J. Maas (ACOTAR, #1)

Thoughts: I loved this! It just filled me with so much fluffy, happy feelings. I’ve seen so many people complaining about how there was no plot, which is true, but SJM said the whole point of this book was to bridge the first trilogy with the second one, which is exactly what it did. It was all about all the characters and Velaris healing from the aftermath of the war, and it was good. There didn’t need to be this big plot. I thought it was great. I missed these characters so very much, and yet again, I do not want to wait a whole year to see them again!! 😦

Also, we get a little sneak peek at what the next book will be about and I AM SO HERE FOR IT! Literally cannot wait.

Rating: 5/5 stars on Goodreads!

32333296#3: Stay Sweet by Siobhan Vivian

Thoughts: I really liked this one! Super cute, light-hearted summer read. A cute book about ice cream, what more can we want for summer time? I always get in the mood for cute contemporaries around this time!

Rating: 4/5 stars on Goodreads!

36012399#4: Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell

Thoughts: This was my book club book for this month. I’m glad because I probably wouldn’t have ever picked it up otherwise, but I liked this! It was a pretty good mystery/thriller. It was definitely predictable though. I knew what happened probably halfway into the book, but the writing was really good and the characters were good. Laurel’s emotions were so raw and so realistic. I really liked that. This kept me wanting to read to find out exactly what happened. I always love a good thriller!

Rating: 4/5 stars on Goodreads!

30285562#5: Lucky in Love by Kasie West

Thoughts: This was cute, just like all Kasie West’s books! A little unrealistic, but cute. Perfect for a quick, light and easy summer read!

Rating: 3.5/5 stars on Goodreads!

Okay, there’s my wrap up for May! My favorite book was definitely ACOFAS!

What was your favorite read of May?

Thanks for reading! (:
