Series: Three Dark Crowns, #3

Summary: Katharine has waited her whole life to take the throne.

And with the fury of the dead queens roaring beneath her skin, her time has come. But many still challenge her rule, and with the whereabouts of her sisters unknown, Katharine’s anxiety grows. Then bodies start mysteriously washing ashore, throwing Fennbirn into a panic.

Hiding out on the Mainland, Arsinoe and Mirabella try to make a life for themselves away from all they’ve lost. But it’s not long until home beckons: Arsinoe is haunted by visions of the legendary Blue Queen, a rare and mystical fourth-born queen who died hundreds of years earlier.

Jules, after befriending a war-gifted girl named Emilia, learns there is a revel army that wants to usurp the throne – and they want Jules to lead the charge.

A queen on the throne, two on their way home, and an unexpected renegade who’s gone to ground… the crown has been won, but these queens are far from done.

Rating: I gave this 5/5 stars on Goodreads!

Thoughts: As I always say, there will be no spoilers for this book, but if you have not read the previous two books, I would not read this review.

Holy. Cow. This book, you guys. Kendare Blake has done it again. The wait for the fourth book genuinely makes me so anxious hahaha.

This book was everything I wanted it to be. We get deeper looks into the queens and their lives, there’s more twists and turns in this one that I didn’t really expect. Honestly, this book was pretty creepy at times. The writing is just so good, as always. I love love loved this installation to the series and I cannot wait for more!

I wasn’t sure what to expect of this book, and I definitely had no idea what would go down because of the ending of book two, but wow. So many things happened. So much new information, and I think I’m still processing some of it.

Let’s just talk characters like my previous reviews.

Mirabella. Still my faveeee. She is just so good. I love her and her protective instincts. I loved her more in this book for so many more reasons than one. I’m always rooting so hard for Mirabella.

Arsinoe. Also just really love her. She is hard-headed and snappy and I just love every second of it. Arsinoe’s storyline has been my favorite throughout this entire series, and I still have to say that it still continues to be my favorite storyline. The other two are also great, but I just feel a stronger connection to Arsinoe’s for some reason. Always rooting for her as well!

Katharine. ugh, *eye roll*. I want her to burn. End of story. She is still just so weird and off, and we all know why because of the whole “dead queens inside her” thing, but I don’t like it. She’s awful. Maybe the dead queens are to blame, but I still don’t like her. It’s odd to think she was my favorite in book one. She’s so different, and I hate the way she handles things. She’s just cruel.

Jules. I have to add Jules in this because honestly, she’s a main character now. She is so awesome, and I can’t get enough of her. So much happens with Jules in this book. Some really awful, but awesome things happen and I’m here for it all. She is my favorite aside from the queens! I cannot waiittttt to see how things end for her in the next book!

Billy is still the best, and still 😦 Joseph.

I just really love this story. I’m so invested and the fact that we don’t even have a release date for the fourth book makes me nauseous. Kendare, please don’t kill my babies, pleasseeeee. 😦

I’m so nervous to see how the story ends, but I am so so excited to continue on with the series!

Have you read this one? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Thanks for reading! (:
