Summary: The Queen has returned.

Everyone Celaena Sardothien loves has been taken from her. But she’s at last returned to the empire—for vengeance, to rescue her once-glorious kingdom, and to confront the shadows of her past…

She has embraced her identity as Aelin Galathynius, Queen of Terrasen. But before she can reclaim her throne, she must fight.

She will fight for her cousin, a warrior prepared to die for her. She will fight for her friend, a young man trapped in an unspeakable prison. And she will fight for her people, enslaved to a brutal king and awaiting their lost queen’s triumphant return.

The fourth volume in the New York Times bestselling series continues Celaena’s epic journey and builds to a passionate, agonizing crescendo that might just shatter her world.

Rating: 4/5 stars

Thoughts: These are spoilery reviews, so if you have not read these books, read no further!

So, if you didn’t know, this is my first time reading the Throne of Glass series. So, really, these “reviews” are just a train of my thoughts after reading, haha.

Man, this book is looooong. But, it was so much better than Heir of Fire, thank goodness. It was kind of boring in spots, but that last 100-150 pages was crrraazzyyyyy.

I really like Aelin/Celaena. She’s had so much growth in the last two books, and I’ve really enjoyed her character. She’s such a literal queeeeeen.

I looooveeee Rowan!! He is such a good character, and his relationship with Aelin is just the best. I’m rooting for them now. 😉

Aedion is fine. He is pretty cool, but also kind of petty, so I’m not sure how I really feel about him.

Chaol was kind of a turd in this book, which was annoying. He came around by the end, but he annoyed me most of this book, sadly, because I really like him.

Dorian. I missed Dorian so much in this book, so I’m really hoping we see more of him in the next one! My heart heart when the Valg prince had him under his control. 😦 I hope we don’t see them again, but lol at that thought.

Okay, so Manon. Last review, I said I didn’t have much an opinion on her and that her chapters were boring. Now, for this book, I liked her so much more! I enjoyed her chapters. I feel like we really got a good feel for her character and her personality more in this book, and now I’m a fan. I really liked her storyline for this one, and the way she also grew and stood up for what she believed. Also loved her storyline with Elide.

Oh, little Elide. I need to know what happens with her.

Man, that ending. I don’t know if I believe the King or not, but I really kind of hope that Erawan (or whoever?) is still locked away, lol. But obviously it won’t be that simple. I mean, its SJM, come on.

I really enjoyed the story so much more in this book. I was so happy when Aelin finally made it home. I’m looking forward to Empire of Storms to see what happens with all my little characters.

What were your thoughts on Queen of Shadows?

Thanks for reading! (:
