January 2021 Wrap Up!

Hi friends!

I hope 2021 has been off to a decent start for you. It has been very busy and a bit stressful here, but we’re making it! I had a good reading start to the year, so I can’t complain. Let’s talk about what I read!

Quick Monthly Wrap Up:

Total books read: 6

Total pages read: 2,850

Average January rating: 4.42/5 stars

1. Rebel Rose by Emma Theriault

Thoughts: This is insanely frustrating. This was a reeeal struggle to get through, which hurts my heart. Belle has always been my second favorite Disney princess (shout out to my girl, Ariel. Forever #1 in my heart, haha!), so I really was so excited for this book. The idea of seeing what Belle’s life AFTER the curse looked like was so intriguing, but.. I was let down real bad. I think my expectations were too high, but even still. I was so boooored. It moved at a slug’s pace, and honestly the characters weren’t good. Belle didn’t feel like Belle, her attitude and personality wasn’t the same, and it bothered me. Honestly the highlight of the book was Lumiere, Mrs. Potts, Chip, and annoying old Cogsworth. Belle and Lio(??)’s relationship felt weird. I didn’t buy into it at all. The villain was SO creepy, like icky creepy. Hated that.
Ugh, I don’t know. I’m sad. I do think I’ll read the next book in the series, but only because it’ll be written by a different author and I really am here for the “what comes next” for the princesses.

Rating: 2.5 out of 5.

#2: A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

Thoughts: I mean, I’m still obsessed and adore this story. No idea why I waited 3+ years to read it again.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

#3: The Ender by Heather Kindt (The Weaver, #3)

Thoughts: I have been looking forward to the ending of this trilogy since last year when I read the second book! This series is just so good. If you haven’t read it, you absolutely need to. I was hooked from the very beginning. This book had so many turns and twists in it, and I was so entertained. The writing, as always, was great. I’m so sad that this story has come to a close, but the ending was fantastic! I was not expecting it, but it was a perfect ending to Laney’s story. Overall, a really great trilogy. I highly recommend it, along with Kindt’s other novels. Please check her out!

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Full Review: The Ender

#4: A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas (ACOTAR, #2)

Thoughts: I mean, again, what can I say? Still obsessed. Rhysand is forever my fave.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

#5: The One by John Marrs

Thoughts: Holy crap, this was so good. The entire concept, the couples, the Matches, everything. I couldn’t put this one down. So much drama and twists and turns. I was genuinely surprised at times. I connected to certain characters more than others, but as a whole, the entire cast was fantastic and written so well. Pick this one up! You won’t regret it.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

#6: A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas (ACOTAR, #3)

Thoughts: Literally rereading this series is my favorite idea I’ve had in a very, very long time! I just love this story and all these characters so so much. There were things I’d forgotten in this one, and it brought back alllll the feels. Just so good.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Okay, there are the books I read in January! Even if 3/6 were rereads, I felt like overall it was a good month. Rereading the ACOTAR series was so much fun and it made me even more excited for A Court of Silver Flames this month!

What was your favorite read of January?

Thanks for reading! (:
